Changing a room from ‘the place where we keep all the junk’ to a baby’s nursery is one of the more pleasurable things about being pregnant. And lots of things can be bought to make it just perfect!

Impending parenthood is a big change and during the months of pregnancy, a lot of emotion can be tied up in getting baby’s room the way it should be. Some parents spend a fortune on murals, cute baby furniture and matching fabrics. Others are more practical looking for furniture that will outlast the toddler years. But one thing is clear – there is a definite trend to buying wardrobes and changers that match.

Colour and styling in nursery furniture follows broad trends. For some time it had to be Antique Pine – a deeper, richer colour than ordinary pine. Then its popularity began to wane with lighter colours gaining ground with beech and a return to white which was the in-colour 15 years ago! A few years ago coloured cots especially pretty pink and blue – gender specific colours to use the correct buzz word – began to make their appearance but somehow failed to stay the course! Now it seems we're back to wood with oak popular in the more expensive ranges.

However, the interior design programs on TV are having an effect and now perhaps one in ten are buying the whole room as a set. With the whole shebang easily costing £1500, this is serious money................

A typical mum will see the furniture in a store on the High Street or maybe a parenting magazine. She may like it but often she will need to go home and work the tape measure before making a final decision.

It is also just as crucial that ypu work with the tape measure so as to ensure that you order the correct size mattress for any cot or cot bed.

Whether it's a brand new designer cot, part of modern bedroom set, or a fourty year old cot sought out from grandma's loft, here at Baby Mattresses Online we can make you the perfectly safe fitting mattress to compliment the nursery and ensure peace of mind that baby has a safe place to sleep in.
