Let the Royal Shopping Begin!

With the arrival of her first child just a few months away, The Duchess of Cambridge has begun shopping for baby goods as she prepares for the imminent arrival of the future heir to the throne.

The purchasing preferences of the UK's pregnant Royal is bound to have a knock-on effect with other mums-to-be. Kate's first significant purchase has been revealed to be a Bugaboo, the ultimate in celebrity endorsement for the already high-profile brand.

The Duchess, who is now six months’ pregnant, told a group of Army wives at a recent drinks reception that she has bought a Bugaboo. The A-listers favoured buggy costs £1,200 for a top-of-the-range model.

Bugaboo says it did not present the buggy to the couple, so if Kate has one, she bought it herself. Only time will tell if the purchase will lead to a spike in sales of her preferred brand.

The shopping hasn't stopped there, as Kate has also chosen a white wicker Moses basket - priced up to £295 for an off the shelf model. She purchased the basket last week from a boutique nursery furniture shop called Blue Almonds  in South Kensington.

Izabela Minkiewicz, the owner of Blue Almonds, declined to comment on the Duchess’ purchases, but did confirm that she was ‘honoured’ to have received a visit from her. "We spend a great deal of time making sure that we get to know the client, their particular taste and demands," she said.

The following day Kate was seen back out shopping for baby goods again at the Peter Jones department store in Chelsea, where she spent several hours mulling over buggies and a car seat.

Prince Harry has also passed on a ‘My Tatty Teddy’ toy from the Tatty Teddy & My Blue Nose Friends toy range for the newborn, taking it on a helicopter ride back to Kensington Palace after it was given to him by a wellwisher.

The Duchess has revealed that her baby is due in mid-July and insists that she and William have chosen not to discover the sex of their child
