Hi Jane,
For a travel cot you are able to get a foam mattress, that is split folding or one piece, so then it is easier for you to carry. You can get ventilation holes in the mattress this encourages air flow throughout the mattress, however if your child is heavily sick or soils and this manages to soak through the mattress and into one of the holes it can be difficult to clean. You can get a PVC sleeve that is 1/3 of the mattress it goes under the cover and is removable stopping any leakages soaking through into the mattress, however they are not fully breathable, if you wanted a breathable sleeve the best option would be to get the aquasolari pad, as they are fully breathable. Our firmer mattresses are the coir and fully sprung mattresses, if your after a softer mattress your best getting the foam or pocket sprung mattress. All of our mattresses are made to British standards and are fully supportive for your child.
Best Wishes |

Hi Louisa,
Please built the travel cot together and measure the dimensions for the length and width. Then take 1cm off both sides, as you want the mattress to fit in snug. You should not have a gap more than 4cm for safety reasons. When ordering online please put the dimensions that you require in the special instructions box and we will make you one to the exact size that you require. Thank you very much for getting in touch with us. |

Hi Gareth,
All of our mattresses are made to measure, and are suitable for overnight sleeping right from birth, and made to British standards. Our firmer mattresses are the coir and fully sprung, if your after a softer mattress it would be best to get either a foam or pocket sprung mattress. Thank you very much for getting in touch with us.

Our comment/answer: |
Hi Fernanda,
Ventilation holes are only applicable to foam mattresses. The mattresses are breathable without ventilation holes, but to have them encourages fresh air to circulate throughout the mattress and around your child.
The only disadvantage to having the holes would be that if your child is heavily sick, or heavily soils the mattress and this manages to soak through the cover and into one of the holes it would be difficult to clean. We do not charge any extra for ventilation holes, thank you very much for getting in touch with us. |

Hi Maria,
Yes, the mattress should not have more than a 4cm gap between the cot, the more snug the mattress is the better it is. Thank you for getting in touch with us. |
