Mattress Fillings
Should you choose a foam mattress, a spring mattress or a natural fibre mattress?
Just like adult mattresses, you have a choice between purchasing a foam, spring or fibre mattress. We make each and every mattress by hand and with care.
Foam Mattresses
All our foam mattresses are made of CMHR 25 density foam. Our ever popular foam mattresses are of fantastic quality as they are made from a high density of foam. That doesn't necessarily mean it's thicker, but just that the foam used is of a denser nature. The higher density will provide firm support and should last for about three years.
Fully spung mattresses
These mattresses will last longer than foam because of the steel coils inside them. They are naturally heavier and usually cost a bit more than foam mattresses. The spring interior offers excellent support for older children.
Pocket sprung mattresses
Pocket springs are individually made and then placed in their own fabric pockets, which allows the springs to move independently of each other This results in ultimate comfort support for your child exactly where it’s most needed. Comfort from top to toe! This type of spring system is generally considered to be one of the best types of sleeping systems and is normally the most expensive type of finished innersprung mattress.
Coconut fibre mattresses
Coconut coir is a natural fibre harvested from the husk of the coconut. It is a heavy duty coarse fibre pad with minimum moisture retention and maximum ventilation. This fibre is renewable, recyclable and biodegradable. These mattresses proivide comfort, ventilation, spring and safety. Well-ventilated coconut fibre core. Cococnut is renowned for its properties of moisture absorbtion whilst letting the air circulate, keeping the mattress dry and healthy. Also available with wool & springs.
Other natural fibre mattresses
We also have a range of other natural fibre fillings which include latex, mohair, lambswool, cashmere & silk.
When choosing a mattress, be sure it fits snuggly on the bed. All of our mattresses are fire retardant and pass stringent British Standards.
Family and friends like to hand their furniture down, which is fine, however many second-hand, older mattresses may not be fire retardant. They may also be worn out and won't give the support needed, even though they may look good on the outside. These are probably the best reasons for purchasing a new mattress for your child.
Your child deserves a wonderful, peaceful night's sleep, and so do you…
All our mattresses comply with the rigorous requirements of BS 1877 Part 10 for safety and performance and BS 7177 for flammability, without the use of nasty chemicals such as arsenic, lead, barium, antimony or phosphorous.
