Mattress Fabrics

We have a huge selection of mattress covereings, any of which can be used in the manufacture of your child's new mattress. You can even mix & match if required. Many of our fabrics have oeko-tex certification. We have everything from the very basic, right up to the latest intelligent fabrics. As we are so passionate about our children's mattresses, we are constantly researching new and innovating coverings which include Fair Trade and Organic fabrics.

All over the covers are easily removed for washing by means of a zip. Unless stated otherwise, all of our mattress covers can be machine washed at 60 degrees. Non biological detergent. Slow spin. Cool tumble dry or leave to dry naturally. Cool iron. Do not bleach. Do not dry clean.

PVC
Plain white, non toxic PVC. Noise resistant. Ideal for covering all or part of a mattress where there may be chance of "accidents". Ideal for rentals etc. Easily wiped down with soapy water of disinfectant.

TRICOT MESH
A very basic open cell spacer fabric. Ideal for economy mattresses. (Hand wash only)

COROVIN
A single-ply polyester fabric which again is ideal for budget mattresses. (Hand wash only)

BASIC STRIPED TICKING
A traditional mattress ticking - blue and white pinstripe 100% cotton. Ideal for contract supply. Hardwearing. (Cool hand wash only as it is not colourfast)

COROQUILT
A quilted polyester fabric.

COOLMAX
This is an open cell spacer fabric, under licence from Dupont. Coolmax® technology has a micro moisture management system, that improves the airflow around your the body while sleeping, reducing rapid increases in heat and therefore keeping your child cool throughout the night.

COOL PLUS
Cool Plus is very similar to Coolmax® but it is a knitted fabric.It has the same moisture management properties.

AMICOR
This is a very specialised fabric created at Nottingham University. It is deeply quilted for added luxury. Dust mites cannot breed in this fabric. Ideal for asthma sufferers or anyone with allergies.

MICROCLIMATE - WITH COOLMAX ACTIVE
This is an intelligent fabric that regulates the body's temperature whilst you sleep. This means that when you’re too hot the heat is absorbed, and when you’re too cold, the heat is released. This helps to keep your child at a comfortable temperature throughout the night.

NATURAL BAMBOO
The Bamboo mattress cover is manufactured using bamboo yarn, the most eco-friendly material of the 21st century. Bamboo's soft and luxurious feel combined with its natural, anti-bacterial properties creates a fabric that is four times better than cotton, offering a more comfortable sleep. Always fresh and natural. Bamboo's natural antibacterial defenses also act as a deodorant, keeping the Bamboo mattress fabric fresh. Great for allergy sufferers - The main advantage of a mattress made with bamboo ticking is its antibacterial properties. The Bamboo cover has a unique resistance to mites, bacteria and fungus.

ORGANIC COTTON
Organic cotton is grown without the use of dangerous chemicals. Instead, traditional farming methods, such as crop rotation, organic manure and the use of beneficial insects, produce quality cotton without damaging the environment or anybody’s health in the process. The quality of organic cotton is often better as it is usually picked by hand, which is more accurate than machine and allows the workers to select the best. Nevertheless, the price of organic cotton is often similar to that which is mass-produced. As there are fewer middlemen involved, savings can be made and prices held level, despite the premium given to organic cotton farmers. Organic cotton does carry a small price premium. You may ask yourself “What am I getting for the extra money? It may be more pertinent to ask” What am I not getting”? Cotton on! Buy Organic! Fabric construction is 85% organic cotton, 15% polyester.

SILPURE ULTRAFRESH
This is a  naturally anti-bacterial and antistatic fabric. Based on natural silver, Ultrafresh Silpure is a new generation of anti-bacterial treatment for mattress coverings. A durable and topical application providing protection and freshness from potentially harmful and odour causing bacteria. Silver is naturally safe and has the power to fight bacteria, contaminationand maintain freshness. Helps to regulate your child's temperature by dispersing heat and moisture. The excellent adhesion of silver to the fibres means these properties remain strong even after repeated washings.

X-STATIC SILVER FIBRE
If it says X-Static, you will be! 21st. Century children's mattresses…The most specialist & advanced childrens mattress covering on the market today. ONLY available here at Children's Mattresses Online…This is probably our top of the range fabric and it is deeply quilted for added comfort. It prevents bacteria growths such as MRSA and E-Coli. Even Marks & Spencers sell pyjamas made from XStatic fabric.
The use of silver for its anti-bacterial, medical and theraputic benefits dates back thousands of years. In fact the Romans were the first to publish and document the "magical healing" powers of silver when used to cover wounds. Further, Cyrus the Great, in the 5th Century BC, would only let his troops go to war if they carried water in silver vessels – something he knew would keep the water supply clean and safe. It is somewhat humbling in the 21st. Century to know that a Persian King touted the benefits of the active ingredient used in X-Static!

X-Static: The Silver Fibre, used in part of our range of children's mattreses, has a layer of pure silver permanently bonded to the surface and woven into the fibres of our mattress covers. The process is such that the fibre, with its silver layer, retains traditional and tactile characteristics as found in traditional mattress coverings yet offers all the benefits known to be inherent to pure silver.  
ANTI-ODOUR: The mattress cover is made with pure silver which inhibits the growth of any bacteria or dustmites in the baby's mattress. X-Static eliminates 99.9% of bacteria in less than one hour of exposure. Most other anti-microbial fabrics test over 48 hours & still do not reach this level of effectiveness! “Is silver safe for my child to sleep on? Is X–Static safe?”
Silver is widely used in medical products. Silver is used in everything from burn care products for infection control to eating & drinking utensils.
“How long does X-Static protection last?”
X-Static will last for the life of the mattress. Silver is permanently & irreversibly bound & woven in the fibres to create X-Static. It cannot wash or wear off.
“I'm allergic to silver? So could my child be allergic to silver?”
Some people are allergic to silver jewellery so make the assumption that they might be allergic to silver. On the contrary, silver jewellery is made of an alloy called "sterling silver" and people are allergic to the various other metals in its makeup. X-Static is made with pure silver and there have been no documented cases of allergies to pure silver.
“How much silver is in X-Static?”
The fabric contains 15% pure silver.
